Alcantara Silicone Free Shampoos

What is silicone-free shampoo for?

Before listing and explaining the benefits of silicone-free shampoos, it is important to first point out what are silicones? Silicones are, together with sulphates, one of the most widely used hair cleansing products in the world. In previous years, it was almost impossible to find a shampoo free of silicones, as their function was essential for the shampoo to work, but now we know that this is not the case!

Essentially, silicones seal and fill in the cuticle layers of the hair to make it look shinier. They also help reduce frizz. However, they only "make up" for the lack of moisture and how devitalised the hair may be, but do not solve the root of the problems.

Silicone-free shampoos promote healthier hair, by allowing natural oxygenation through the natural cycles of hair cell renewal. The moisture penetrates the roots and scalp allowing the production of natural hair oils, which will naturally moisturise and nourish our hair, taking care of its balance and equilibrium. In addition, and as an extra benefit, the hair will not need to be washed as often, as sebum production is regulated, so it will feel less greasy.

As we all know there are different types of hair and, therefore, they have different needs, one of the most difficult ones being dyed hair. Traditional formulas with silicones tend to be too aggressive with this type of hair, causing the colour to fade in just a few washes.

In this sense, shampoos without silicones and with natural formulations are the best for dyed hair, as they provide hydration and a protective shield against external agents, and one of the shampoos for dyed hair that meets these requirements is Nature + Science Color Extend shampoo by Redken.
